Nana & Papa

This weekend we had a visit from Nana & Papa. My sister blessed her baby and my parents drove down from Salt Lake for the occasion. We had a great time! Saturday night we went to a buffet in honor of Papa who loves to eat! Sunday was spent with family & friends at baby Jameson's blessing. My kids love their grandparents and basked in their attention! Hannah & Nana played a lot of Barbies together. Nick & Papa played a little catch. And both kids loved being read to by Papa! We love you both and can't wait for you to come again soon!

Soccer shorts..........................................$11
Shin guards.............................................$10
Soccer socks............................................$6
Broken collarbone..................................$100

2nd trip to the E.R. in less than 48 hours.................PRICELESS!

That's right! Hannah tripped over a soccer ball at her very first soccer practice of the season and fractured her clavicle! Another trip to the E.R. for the Nigbur family! (We are getting good at this!) She will miss 6 weeks of the 10 week season. She is in a brace & sling and doing very well considering!

An x-ray of the break! She has an appointment with a pediatric orthopedic doctor tomorrow and we will learn more about her diagnosis!

A very sad and in a lot of pain Hannah. Now she & Nick have matching bracelets!
A little pain medication and 1 brace & sling later she is feeling much better!
We love you Hannah & think you are very brave! Be careful & watch out for those soccer balls! You are a tough cookie!

Nerdy Nick!

So we are sitting in sacrament meeting Sunday with about 15 minutes to go before church is over and Nick decides to stick a nerd in his ear! It is really stuck! We gather our things and make a hasty exit. At home we try tweezers but it only seems to be getting stuck deeper & deeper! The quick care is closed and by this point he is covering his ear and saying "Ow!" So we head (for the 1st time in our parental careers) to the E.R.! Almost 4 hours and a $100 co-pay later the nerd is kind of gone. They gave him some Lortab to sedate him and then wrapped him up a like a burrito in a sheet. First they tried to suction it out and then ended up dissolving it with warm water. It was all very traumatic! There is still some sticky residue left and we have a follow up appointment with our pediatrician Wednesday. But we sincerely hope he has learned his lesson! Don't put ANYTHING in your ears (or up your nose for that matter!)

At first Nick thought the hospital was an adventure. He was proud of his cool new bracelet!
Finally...it's all over and he gets some dinner! A 2 hour old sandwich from Arbys! What a trooper!

Valley of Fire

This weekend we took the kids on a little day trip to the Valley of Fire. It was gorgeous & perfect weather. They did great on the car ride. We packed a picnic and did the hike at White Domes. Hannah & Nick hiked the whole thing (1.5 miles) by themselves! We are so proud of them! They thought it was super fun to climb up the rocks and trot along the sandy trail. We had a fabulous time & can't wait to go again soon!
