Happy Spring Break!

Monday the kids & I drove up to Salt Lake to spend the week of Spring Break with family! We had a fabulous time with all their cousins, aunts, uncles & grandparents! We broke the new mini-van in on our first road trip and she did awesome! I never knew what a blessing a built in DVD player could be!

Tuesday we went to Wheeler Farm. Hannah wanted to see a baby pig. We also saw cows, horses, sheep, turkeys, goats, rabbits & fed the ducks. We went on a tractor pulled hay ride and packed a picnic. The kids had fun just running around playing together! 12 of the 14 cousins were there! After we went to play at Aunt Dodo's fun house and the kids were exhausted silly! That night my oldest niece Erica watched my kids while just the sisters went to dinner. Yummy, good times! Aunt Emily was so sweet and let us sleep at her house for 2 nights!

Wednesday we went to the Children's Discovery Museum at the Gateway. It was right up Hannah's alley. She loves to play pretend! She shopped at the grocery store, played house and was a farmer for the day. Nick loved the balls, playing in the water & working construction! That afternoon we went to the hospital to visit our newest cousin(#15); Alexander Edward Peck. He is adorable! That evening we headed to Grandma Dottie's for dinner and a little fun & dinner at the mall. The kids got their picture taken with the Easter Bunny and rode the carousel.

Thursday we had lunch at my favorite fast food joint; Chick-fil-a! Then we headed to the Aquarium. It was really crowded but also very fun & interesting. That night we went to Aunt Keri's for dinner. The kids made and decorated cookies and colored their own plates. They also loved playing with Remington (the dog)!

Friday was a long drive home since we were all so tired. But we had a great time! Thanks to everyone who let us crash at their homes! My kids loved being so busy and having so many fun playmates! Let's plan next Spring Break in Vegas! Okay?

Nana & Papa

This weekend we had a visit from Nana & Papa. My sister blessed her baby and my parents drove down from Salt Lake for the occasion. We had a great time! Saturday night we went to a buffet in honor of Papa who loves to eat! Sunday was spent with family & friends at baby Jameson's blessing. My kids love their grandparents and basked in their attention! Hannah & Nana played a lot of Barbies together. Nick & Papa played a little catch. And both kids loved being read to by Papa! We love you both and can't wait for you to come again soon!

Shin guards.............................................$10
Soccer socks............................................$6
Broken collarbone..................................$100

2nd trip to the E.R. in less than 48 hours.................PRICELESS!

That's right! Hannah tripped over a soccer ball at her very first soccer practice of the season and fractured her clavicle! Another trip to the E.R. for the Nigbur family! (We are getting good at this!) She will miss 6 weeks of the 10 week season. She is in a brace & sling and doing very well considering!

An x-ray of the break! She has an appointment with a pediatric orthopedic doctor tomorrow and we will learn more about her diagnosis!

A very sad and in a lot of pain Hannah. Now she & Nick have matching bracelets!
A little pain medication and 1 brace & sling later she is feeling much better!
We love you Hannah & think you are very brave! Be careful & watch out for those soccer balls! You are a tough cookie!

Nerdy Nick!

So we are sitting in sacrament meeting Sunday with about 15 minutes to go before church is over and Nick decides to stick a nerd in his ear! It is really stuck! We gather our things and make a hasty exit. At home we try tweezers but it only seems to be getting stuck deeper & deeper! The quick care is closed and by this point he is covering his ear and saying "Ow!" So we head (for the 1st time in our parental careers) to the E.R.! Almost 4 hours and a $100 co-pay later the nerd is kind of gone. They gave him some Lortab to sedate him and then wrapped him up a like a burrito in a sheet. First they tried to suction it out and then ended up dissolving it with warm water. It was all very traumatic! There is still some sticky residue left and we have a follow up appointment with our pediatrician Wednesday. But we sincerely hope he has learned his lesson! Don't put ANYTHING in your ears (or up your nose for that matter!)

At first Nick thought the hospital was an adventure. He was proud of his cool new bracelet!
Finally...it's all over and he gets some dinner! A 2 hour old sandwich from Arbys! What a trooper!

Valley of Fire

This weekend we took the kids on a little day trip to the Valley of Fire. It was gorgeous & perfect weather. They did great on the car ride. We packed a picnic and did the hike at White Domes. Hannah & Nick hiked the whole thing (1.5 miles) by themselves! We are so proud of them! They thought it was super fun to climb up the rocks and trot along the sandy trail. We had a fabulous time & can't wait to go again soon!

We all need a little push sometime!

(This one is for you Laurel!) I've been in a bit of a blogging funk lately. We've had a busy couple of weeks and then were sick for a week! But we are back in the swing of things now!

The weather here in Vegas has been so nice we've been doing a lot outside. Hannah has recently rediscovered her bike. She got it for her 4th birthday but fell off it shortly thereafter and was scared to ride it. Now she zips up and down our street on it! The only problem is sometimes she needs a little push to get going! Thank you Nicholas for being such a good little brother & big helper to Hannah!

A Busy Couple of Weeks!

Wow it's been a busy couple of weeks at the Nigbur house! Little cousin Jameson was born Jan. 14th! He was 7 lbs. 10 oz. He is precious & my kids absolutely adore him!

We also had Nana & Grandma Dottie come for a visit! We've been doing all kinds of fun things; going to lunch, the park, celebrating birthdays & playing together.

This weekend Uncle Steve & cousins Seth & Hailey also came for a quick visit! We went to the Utah/UNLV basketball game. All the girl cousins dressed up as cheerleaders! We wanted the Utes to win but they fell apart in the 2nd half! Oh well! We still had a great time!

Aunt Emily & cousin Emma are coming to town tomorrow! We LOVE visitors and can't wait for what's in store this upcoming week!

Happy Birthday Hannah!

Tomorrow is Hannah's birthday! She will be 5 years old! Here are 5 things we love about her...

1. SHE IS BEAUTIFUL! Both inside & out! She has a gorgeous smile and a beauitful, sweet spirit!

2. SHE IS SMART! Hannah has learned all of her letters at preschool. She loves to be read to and loves to write long words like butterfly & schoolbus! She is also becoming a fabulous artist and likes to draw animals, flowers & people!

3. SHE IS FUNNY! Hannah is always smiling & laughing. She loves to tell jokes. Her new favorite is Q: "What did the boy octopus say to the girl octopus?" A: "I want to hold your hand, hand, hand, hand, hand, hand, hand, hand!"

4. SHE HAS A GREAT IMMAGINATION! She loves to dress up and play pretend. She always imagines she is someone else; a kitty, the mom, Gabriella from HSM, a princess or whatever!

5. SHE IS A FABULOUS SISTER & FRIEND! Nicholas idolizes her and tries to be just like she is! She makes friends easily and can play with anyone!

Our family wouldn't be the same without Hannah Banana! We love you! Happy Birthday!

It's officially a........

BOY!!! We had our "official" ultrasound today and a baby boy will be joining our family sometime late in May! We had an ultrasound done at 14 weeks and the Dr. said he was 90% sure it was a boy then but we wanted 100%! We are super exicted! Nicholas will love having a brother so close and the clothes & seasons will work out perfectly!
Here's a pic of our precious peanut!
