A Very Expensive Soccer Season

Fees & registration................................$90
Soccer cleats...........................................$20
Soccer shorts..........................................$11
Shin guards.............................................$10
Soccer socks............................................$6
Broken collarbone..................................$100

2nd trip to the E.R. in less than 48 hours.................PRICELESS!

That's right! Hannah tripped over a soccer ball at her very first soccer practice of the season and fractured her clavicle! Another trip to the E.R. for the Nigbur family! (We are getting good at this!) She will miss 6 weeks of the 10 week season. She is in a brace & sling and doing very well considering!

An x-ray of the break! She has an appointment with a pediatric orthopedic doctor tomorrow and we will learn more about her diagnosis!

A very sad and in a lot of pain Hannah. Now she & Nick have matching bracelets!
A little pain medication and 1 brace & sling later she is feeling much better!
We love you Hannah & think you are very brave! Be careful & watch out for those soccer balls! You are a tough cookie!

Wow! She has quite the broken bone there. Poor Hannah, I hope everything goes okay. I wonder what the doctor will say.

Sorry to hear about her misfortune. That must be really painful to bear, watching your child go thru all this. Hope she heals up fast.

I am so sorry to hear about Hannah. That is no fun!! That sounds like something I would do. Do you remember when I fell on that one step at your parent's house? How embarassing!

The hospital will know you by sight by the time you deliver your baby. Hope everything is ok and hopefully the sling won't bug her too much.

Poor girl! She's tough and she'll be outta that sling in no time, hang in their Hannah! Isabel broke her collarbone at 18 months and the doctor told us that in a couple of days Isabel would probably get rid of the sling herself...and she did!! It's apparantly one of the easiest bones to heal on a kid, I think it's just harder on the mom's to watch!!

Poor peanut, that second pic breaks my heart, although I am glad to hear that all went well with the ortho guy! Thanks for the update! I am also glad to hear that you guys will still be coming. Hooray!!!

How sad!!! Those pictures just break my heart. Poor Hannah ... you guys just can't catch a break over there, can you??? We can tell you from experience though, ER visits seem to come in pairs ... so you guys are in the clear now. Rest easy =) Please tell Hannah (and Nick) to take it easy over there. We miss you guys!

Okay, I have obviously been out of town too long. I had no idea...your poor family. I hope everyone is feeling better and recovering. Hope to talk to you soon.

I still can't believe that happened. That is crazy. When you first told me it was soccer practice I had no idea that you put her in soccer! I need to do something like that for Annika and see how she likes it. Well, I hope she's feeling a little better!

Hey, we're going to try to go to the library tomorrow at 10:30 for story time...Hannah usually has preschool, but don't know what your plan is under the circumstances. Anyway, talk to you later!
